George's Gyros

In 1998, when we took over the Original George's Gyros Spot, Chesterton was a growing market area and seemed to be a prime location to start a small business. Items on the menu started with delicious hot dogs, polish, hamburgers, and of course, gyros. In 2006, we expanded next door and built a bigger building with a drive-thru. Our menu has now expanded to items such as six different types of wraps, several different appetizers, and substitutions for French fries, such as fruit, soup, or our homemade rice pudding. Every order is cooked to order, just the way you like it.

Lucrezia's

Visiting Northern Italy doesn't require a passport or euros if the destination is award winning Lucrezia Café. Readers of The Times Newspaper have voted Lucrezia the Best of the Region 2011 #1 Italian restaurant and for good reason. The service is formal, yet friendly and casual. The eclectic, upbeat atmosphere in the historic house has been attracting everyone from locals to Chicagoans to a celebrity or two since 1998! But it's the quality of the food that has earned Lucrezia kudos, including a featured spot on the ChicagoTV shows, 190 North and Check Please! Everything on the menu is made to order from scratch by Chef Alfredo including the desserts. Savor Chef Alfredo's magnificent creations like calamari salad, chicken vesuvio, rigatoni with smoked chicken and the ever so popular braised lamb shank. "We buy halibut and salmon directly from a fisherman in Kodiak, Alaska. We make monthly trips to O'Hare to pick up the fish which is flash frozen shortly after being caught," says local owners, Michael and Nada Karas.

Don't Miss dining alfresco in Lucrezia's brick-paved, private garden. Grab a signature martini, cocktail, or glass of wine from the sophisticated wine list and relax beneath the branches of the tallest Japanese maple in Indiana Dunes Country.

The Port Drive-In

Although we are just a small, "Mom & Pop" establishment, our longevity has made us a bit of a legend - a part of Chesterton's history. Terry Gassoway, the current owner, began working here at age 11 when his parents purchased it. That was 1957. A lot has changed since then, but we still serve the same great chili dogs, made to order burgers, fresh daily coleslaw, fantastic shakes, and frosty mugs of the root beer that's made right here. And it's all delivered to you in your car by our friendly car hops! Or, if you prefer, dine at our picnic tables or in our dining room. The Port Drive-in is an authentic, nostalgic blast from the past. No visit to Chesterton is complete without a treat from the The Port. Be there or be square. Or, at least visit our website, or, on Facebook, at I Love The Port Drive-in.
